LIFE DICET supports EU and Member State policymakers in deepening international cooperation for the development and possible integration of carbon markets.
The project aims to:
- Facilitate enhanced international carbon market cooperation between the European Commission and the regulators of other major ETSs, namely, California-Quebec, China, Switzerland and New Zealand;
- Provide EU and Member State policymakers with key information, and foster capacity building about the regulation of carbon markets and the implications for their possible integration;
- Create an international network of experts on carbon markets;
- Increase political support for international carbon markets through dissemination actions.
LIFE DICET is co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Commission. It started on 1 September 2019 and will run until 30 September 2022.
The project will build on and take further the results of the LIFE SIDE project (2016-2018), whose main purpose was to support European policy makers with the design and implementation of the new EU ETS legislation.
